Take a 5.25" floppy disc and cut to the size of a ordinary CD. Put it on top of the CD (labelside) and play. One of the cheapest and most efficient cd-mats you can find.
I like the sound with Floppy Mat - particularly the silence and the sharper details.
5.25" floppy discs are an endangered species. I have found a supply and I can fill them with data and cut them to CD size if you don't have any of your own. You can buy them from me.
